There’s somewhat about the Calvin Klein USB sunglasses the current has me both intrigued and rolling my eyes in disgust at the same time. On the one hand, they are pretty cool. They really don’t look that bad and Calvin Klein has discovered a unique way to head out technology into the product line. On the other hand, it is yet an additional USB flash push that is disguised as something further as opposed to a flash drive. Ugh.

Available October 2009 for on hand $200, the Calvin Klein USB sunglasses include a built-in USB 4GB flash drive. Apparently, you remove the right arm and viola, instant data storage. I, for one, have had countless experiences of when I’ve continued walking on the beach or hiking or merely plain coming across as pimped in my shades, when I wished I am able to have had a good deal of way to conveniently access and store my digital media. How am I keen to look good, shield my eyes based on information from harmful UVA/UVB rays, and transfer my files to my friend’s computer? Maybe Calvin Klein heard me.

There is one small design flaw (besides the flash drive in the sunglasses). You have to take off your paints to get to your data. What happens if you’re outside away from shade or stranded on a deserted island? Are you anticipated to likelihood your eyesight for the sake of sharing a few MP3s with your girlfriend? I bet not. Maybe if you get good at working with your eyes closed you can ignore that persist warning. And maybe if your friends are remarkably friends they’ll ignore the fact that you have sunglasses investing in a USB flash push made to them.

The fresh version of the Sidekick LX ($200 in on a two-year contract, as of 5/1/09), T-Mobile’s popular messaging phone generally aimed at teenagers, sports grown-up characteristics this as 3G support, GPS, and an improved, a greater number of sophisticated design. But unfortunately the Sidekick LX that much has a few quirks.
For example, the mailbox stores one and only 6MB of memory, contrary the occurence who the Sidekick LX now has Exchange Active Sync support. That on-board storage is a paltry total sum wanting to the likely information capacity of right now multimedia messaging phone. Additionally, the Sidekick LX much has the same awkward-design problems as we saw on the 2007 version.

The hardware, made by Sharp, retains the iconic swivel design and faintly slimmer dimensions. The 3.2-inch (0.2 inch large as opposed to the 2007 model), 854 by 480, F-WVGA rating is gorgeous–one of the highest quality I’ve observed on a handset, particularly a midrange messaging device. The paints are bright, things are crisp, and animations render smoothly.

The keyboard, as expected, is excellent. The keys are nicely spaced and tactile, and properties hold the exemplary extent of clickiness. But I was disappointed to see so T-Mobile kept the sum keys at the top of the keyboard. On the 2007 example we at last found the current design selection awkward and counterintuitive, and I suffer to say it is the same story now. T-Mobile looks as if it’s to suffer put so significantly gas to the messaging capabilities of the phone the present it did not ponder the encounters of bringing about a hire through right now design. The level keys are virtually directly underneath the display’s hinge, and you ought to swivel the keyboard out to dial and coming back in yet again to talk, that can get annoying.

The majority of navigation on the device is finished investing in the BlackBerry-esque trackball. For the the majority of part, it functions rather far investing in the UI, clearly gliding in the a multitude of menu choices. In particular instances, however, the UI a bit slow but sure to respond regardless of repeated finger flicks through the trackball.

Call top notch for the duration of T-Mobile’s 3G network was good, but I heard a faint hiss on my end–something we have have had to deal with amid T-Mobile phones in the past, this kind of as the Shadow. Parties on the supplementary end of the string claimed this my voice sounded obvious provided extensive volume. A few noticed a hiss but stated it was not distracting.

The Sidekick LX’s OS, the Danger OS, is able to use a refresh. Though it is easy sufficient to navigate, it feels a bit out-of-date. It just now does not undergo a massive lot of aesthetic appeal, that is unfortunate on the a lovely display. The Sidekick LX comes preloaded through Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter apps. The Facebook app is truly good: You can view your News feed (which informs all of your friends’ activity), update your status, search engine for new friends and send messages–almost all of it you can do on your PC. The Twitter app is not as full-featured as a great deal more mobile Twitter apps, but it becomes the job done. You can, obviously, update your status, reply to your friends’ tweets, supply and mimic new users, and view a friend’s timeline.

Another new feature, the on-device Download Catalog, is regrettably a bit sparse at this moment time, but it has potential. You can download themes, ring tones, games, and a few productivity, social, and entertainment apps.

The Sidekick LX’s camera has been heard upgraded on a measly 1 megapixel to 3.2 megapixels in on an LED flash. And unlike providing the original, you can now store video–a must-have for a messaging phone. Image grade was rather clever overall, even though a couple of of my indoor pictures looked a bit grainy. Video quality, unfortunately disappointed. My videos came out basically pixelated and motions appeared choppy and delayed.

The Sidekick LX is very much an improvement for the duration of the 2007 version, but I feel similar to such upgrade would own arrive a bit earlier. Sure, 3G validation and a 3.2-megapixel camera are desired additions, but a good amount messaging phones out there are way down the road of the Sidekick LX. The Samsung Impression, for example, has an AMOLED display and a smartphone-like user interface. Sidekick fans would with out a doubt know such upgrade, and regardless of its sophisticated enhancements, I can see it making remarkably popular among the teenage demographic.

There are lots of ultra-mobile computers on the market, and most of them are beleaguered tad gizmos: part the size of a laptop, but also portion the speed, half the storage, half a keyboard, and in short, half-assed. In the light, it is terrific to spend one or two long time surrounded by a little machine that is broad of real PC capability — still if it comes at complete PC price.

It’s called the Model 02, and it is assembled by San Fransisco-based company called OQO. The company’s mission: shrink a full-scale Windows PC down to pocket size, without sacraficing usability. I’ll save you the suspense: they have completed it right.

The Model 02 is a full-blown Vista Business Edition PC so comes in a variety of hardware configurations. My test exemplary was the top of the line: a power-sipping 1.6GHz VIA processor, 64GB firm sector hard drive, 1GB of RAM, and a gargantuan array of pretty wonderful accessories. The best extra is certainly the discrete, black docking station, that has the possibility to make the OQO a full desktop replacement with its built-in DVD burner, HDMI and VGA interfaces, USB 2.0, ethernet and audio out. Models initiate at $1300, but the pricetag on my exemplary rung in at nearly $3200 without the $600 accessory pack. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

The 1-pound device itself is housed in a sturdy magnesium frame and sports a 5-inch screen, a 3- or 6-hour battery, and a pretty sizeable little backlit keyboard amid one of those little pencil-eraser tracksticks for mouse navigation. That may sound old-fashioned, but the OQO trackstick is particularly a question of precision; the pencil-eraser has turn up a extensively way since its ubiquity a decade ago. Precision is also a hallmark of the keyboard, which has a solid feel and well-spaced keys. And additonally I was nerdily overjoyed to find a number pad and nice, big “enter” and “delete” keys, some of the keys are overburdened investing in two or three different drives such a are somewhat dizzyingly associated amongst the shift, function, and control keys. (Witness the bad wonder about mark, that shares a key amidst the find slash and the wireless dashboard shortcut, oddly displaced to left of the spacebar.) You can also use a Wacom tablet pen for touch-screen input, while I was content with the trackstick and keyboard for a large amount of applications.

You might have chortled a bit when I mentioned this fact functions Vista Business Edition — I did too. But after talking amongst Bob Rosin, SVP of Marketing at OQO, I can understand the rationale: Vista has a good deal quicker wake-up long time from its standby mode as opposed to performs XP, and it has pretty advanced power management abilities to boot. With Aero and a lot of other superfluous stuff turned off, it runs admirably on the Model 02 and rarely lags. Of course, OQO has baked in a lot of tailored functionality to cause Vista useful on such a particular device; the a good amount of salient model is their Wireless Dashboard, that allows you to quickly switch between WiFi, Bluetooth and integrated mobile broadband (which is an option, and drives with Sprint or Verizon treatment plans). There are in addition zoom keys on the keyboard that make it easier for you to, well, zoom in or out on whatever you’re viewing on the OQO’s screen, and a “rotate” function that turns the screen to score in vertical portrait mode. In such a high-end device, I would have expected a built-in accelerometer too could do this without neccessitating a button-press, but I was quickly placated by the touch-sensitive scrollers on the sides of the screen. They had a tendency to be jerky at times, but it was nice to be able to manipulate the rating even a small bit without rummaging for a stylus.

So, granted, it is a cool gizmo. But once the inital oohs and aahs subsided, the Model 02 didn’t straight off find its niche on my desk. There it sat, between my desktop PC, my laptop, and my iPhone, its role unclear. I stared at it. Not as handy for email as a smartphone, and more frustrating for word processing as opposed to a laptop. Where did the tiny bit of guy fit?

As it turns out, it is not price levels attempting to wedge the Model 02 between your pre&wshyp;existing suite of gadgets, due to the fact that it really drives sharper as a replacement for all of them. It took me a week to agree presently out, detaching my monitor based on information from its tower, putting the laptop away and paying off the docking station to make the OQO both my desktop and on-the-road PC. When on the road, the iPhone still handled quick internet excursions, but when it came time to book a hotel room on the train, or write a long-winded email to my sister in Europe, out came the Model 02. Back in its docking station, the Model 02 left little bit to be desired from my other PCs; only when it came phase to do some managed in Adobe CS did I retreat to my Core 2 Duo laptop.

It’s worth mentioning that the a larger number of specialized the application, the more useful the Model 02 has the potential to be. For the average person, who travels only occasionally and performs most of their work from a desk, it’s hard to justify a device like the Model 02 — especially considering its potentially magnificent cost. But for somebody like, say, a journalist — typing up notes based on data from the field or examining digital photos to make guaranteed you got the try before you directed residence — it can be invaluable. This isn’t lost on OQO, that bids a good amount of accessory packs tailor-made for different skilled applications. Logistics coordinators, technicians, field scientists and a littany of a large amount of workers are able to likely take in the Model 02 a great small amount of companion for such a endeavors, actually wanting to its tablet interface and its ability to run any Vista-compatible service without caveats. Hopefully they will hard work for organizations amongst deep pockets, when the OQO, in all its glory, ain’t cheap. But when you compare it to other UMPCs who sport severely limited hardware and application functionality for only slightly lowered money, it’s fairly clear this you get how you pay for.
The DVR CamBall is the previous regularly digital video camera and MP3 player that’s as miniature as a ping-pong ball and able to utmost at 320×240 resolution. What proper way to sneak a camera to top-secret arrangements as opposed to to roll it short of the door. Unfortunately, in the wake of it’s out of your grasp this is tad you can do to aim it.

I recently bought a new sound card and wanted to create the a good amount of out of it. I read reviews of The Speaker Company and consideration I’d take a chance. With the 30 day trial I figured I had not anything to lose. The speakers arrived soon and I was shocked to see how extensive the subwoofer was. That was my fault for not becoming at the dimensions… I was able to make room under my desk, so it worked out fine. Once I hooked them up and set my sound card correctly everything sounded great! I can not believe I was able to get these speakers for half of what it would have cost for other 5.1 PC speakers. As handy as the wired remote is, the wireless is even better! One correction to the manual – the wireless remote needs line of site to the wired remote, not the subwoofer. This helped as I had to place the subwoofer in a location that has it partially hidden. If you’re thought about these speakers, go for it!

amazon unbeatable price: $69.97

Heres a multimedia speaker system specifically designed with the gamer in mind. TSCs MS51.6 includes five satellites, a subwoofer/amplifier module, and two remotes, one wired and one infrared for those on the fly adjustments so important to a great gaming experience. Why buy from The Speaker Company? Despite being relatively new we have resources that are the envy of companies many times our size. For instance, we know where the best loudspeaker factories are. We know who runs them. And they, in turn, know us. So when we spec our speakers and negotiate prices, they know theyre not dealing with some no-name and under-funded company. We get their attention. And you get the benefits. Were experts. And not just about loudspeakers, either. Yes, weve spent a lot of time in the lab. And even more time in critical listening sessions tweaking drivers, crossovers, and enclosures. But we also have decades of experience developing electronic products, in independent boutique and “big box” retailing, in high level marketing, and in web operations. So we know a thing or two about sound and, even more importantly, how to bring you quality loudspeakers at half the price!
